Making a Claim
Landlords can submit claims through our website or directly with community partners. A claim form can be found here, or in the info packet you receive from one of our partners. Guidelines for coverage, claims and reimbursement can be found here.
A landlord must be prepared to submit supporting documents as part of the claim process:
RentSmart Guarantee Claim Form
Any appropriate documentation to support the claim, including, but not limited to:
- Move-Out Condition Report
- Receipts or invoices for any repairs (required if requesting reimbursement for damages)
- Written accounting statement reflecting tenant-owed expenses
- Documentation of non-payment of rent (72 hour notices, tenant ledger, etc.)
RentSmart Guarantee Fund Claim Form
Fill out the RSGF claim form and submit the claim packet to RentSmart (mail or email) or with a Community Partner.
Landlords must file the claim within 60 days from the date the guarantee expires and/or the date the landlord takes back possession of the unit from the tenant, whichever occurs first.
A max. of $5000 in reimbursement for eligible expenses.
